Or - What we dun this summer:
My word - what a wonderful and eventful year so far.. filled with gifts and special moments with a healthy smattering of bizarre, frightening, thrilling and amusing. Some adventures have tailed off, goals have shifted, redeveloped, and some come to fruition and others fine tuned and intensely focused.
This year was the first year we attended the Edinburgh Fringe with the **DaNGeR SHoW**. We didn't make the huge amounts of cash I was expecting - however the learning curve we had was as steep as they come and I loved every second of it! The Fringe Street Performers are amongst the best in the world. Every show I watched was dissected and devoured with relish. We also met some thoroughly bloody fabluss people and made a new friend or two.. my favourite is PINA POLAR who's wit, energy and great humour is as infectious as it is genuine. ❤
Here's a pic of our fan, (yes - we have at least ONE) who wanted to pose with us as she'd seem our show the previous day and loved it. Oh how my heart and head swell. I need to develop a successful posing face:
She was really cute and sweet and made my day :)
I have a lot more to say about the Fringe - but will save it for another blog post all of it's ownsome.
We are so lucky to be doing what we do. One of the best perks is getting invited to other people's celebrations - and treated like members of the gang. One such event this year was a wonderful pagan handfasting we attended last minute for a lovely couple who paid us in cash and Kraken, which is probably my favourite way to get paid...
They also left a lovely review and sent me home with a bottle of Mead - and sent on some fab pics after.
One of the most exciting events in our calendar this summer. Karen from Cupola Gallery was due to celebrate 25 years of business in Hillsborough, and last year had the idea that a mini arts festival in the park would be apt. What it turned into was something else entirely - it coasted away with its own momentum and ended up being a HUGE event with two domes containing many artistic delights.. specialist food/drink stalls.. glass blowing.. chainsaw carving and a main stage with music over two days in July. My description is crap, and doesn't do it justice. Watch this video:
Simply put - what Karen and her team managed to produce in less than 6 months from start to finish was nothing short of miraculous.
What was also miraculous and incredible is how we actually made it to our own performances on the Sunday - our Rum bucket had spent the last two days hospitalised for suspected paracetamol overdose due to TOOTH ABCESS. So after 24 hours on a drip and several packets of codeine later - here he is juggling knives over my head.
Knife Juggling on Codeine
Folks - it's not big and its not clever. That's okay though - we make the stupid decisions so you don't have to.
Having a little rest in between knife juggling on codeine:
The encouragement to get back up again is at its peak - but codeine has other ideas.
Swelling in the wrong place:
Aside from that though - the day was really top notch brilliant. We're all hoping that Hillsfest will continue to be a thing, but understand that Karen will need a BLOODY LONG HOLIDAY to recover from the last one...!

Chesterfield Canal Trust - National Trailboat Festival 2016
We were invited by Rob Auton who'd spotted us at the Eckington Christmas Fayre December 2015. Again - a lovely day with loads of friendly folks. We're hoping to be invited back next year.
Butterthwaite Road Happy Street Party - Hallam FM
Gifted from us on the way up to the Fringe. We are surely going to Heaven which will contain sunshine, good friends and kracken.
Henliegh Hall Summer Fete
A care home gig which, can be scary, amusing, or enlightening. This one was the latter :)
